Musicians are still influenced today with the help of venues and similar artists

Musicians in today’s society are still inspired from one another’s music. Different music styles evolve from similar and contrasting artists.

The surf rock scene in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s have influenced surf rock and ‘rock n roll’ culture today, as well as today’s bands influencing each other. Bands such as Hockey Dad, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Velvet Elevator and KISS have helped each other to grow as musicians through new guitar chords, beats and lyrics.

Within Wollongong/Sydney there are many venues in which bands like these can share their talent to a large or small audience. Some of these venues include the Enmore Theatre, the Factory Theatre, the Metro Theatre and the Rad Bar. Through bands and musicians playing their own style of rock and roll to an audience, inspiration has led to musicians making more music with their own cultural and unique touch to it.
